Nora + Noah's Summer Wedding In Boulder

Noah and Nora married early summer in Boulder at the lovely Greenbriar Inn. They used rich greenery and soft blush, peach and ivory florals to accent their venue. Nora fell in love with her 3D floral cape and Sassi Holford gown after seeing it in a styled shoot we did with Rocky Mountain Bride. When she tried it on at LWD, she knew it was exactly what she was looking for!

We’re SO excited to share this wedding and more about Nora and Noah’s experience with us!

LWD: Tell us a little about your gown shopping experience. What were you looking for in a dress and how did you narrow it down to your favorites?

Norah: Going into gown shopping I had a pretty good idea that I was looking for a simple but striking and classic dress. My sister gave me the good advice to try on lots of different styles, even ones I didn't think I would like; this was helpful for comparison shopping and for fun (you only try on gowns once!) but I did end up with something that fit my original vision. I flew to Denver to try gowns on at 4-5 shops including LWD, and was accompanied by my mom. I don't live in Colorado but she does; I grew up there and my husband Noah and I were married just outside of Boulder. LWD had the most beautiful show room, so well lit and set-up. It was a relaxing and enjoyable experience to shop and it was not crowded which made for a more intimate and calm experience. While I felt beautiful in a variety of gowns, I knew which ones I felt most like myself in. And the cape was such a show-stopper, it was impossible to not fall in love with it.

LWD: How did you end up deciding on your bridal look? What did you love most about it?

Norah: I flew back to Colorado to go dress shopping with my mom over a weekend. Funnily enough, while at another bridal shop, I picked up a copy of Rocky Mountain Bride to peruse (I did not buy any wedding magazines or spend much time looking online before shopping in person) and fell in love with a spread that featured the Sassi Holdford dress and Justin Alexander cape. I didn't know what a bridal cape was before that, but I knew I didn't want a veil. I had been interested in something that would give me multiple looks without a full dress change. I looked the designers up online and it turned out LWD carried both, which was perfect because I already had an appointment to try on gowns there (LWD had actually done the shoot for Rocky Mountain Bride, so thumbs up to your marketing team!). I loved the look in-person as much as I had in the magazine. I'm not sure I could pick one aspect that was my favorite about the look, but I did enjoy having two "looks" (with and without the cape) where I felt equally amazing. I absolutely love jewelry but was struggling to find the right earrings. When I flew to Colorado to pick-up my dress, I found the Maria Elena earrings at LWD and immediately knew they were perfect. The flower post picked up the flowers on the cape, and they featured pearls in a contemporary and fun way.

LWD: What was your favorite part of your wedding?

Norah: The whole day was so special, but I think the ceremony was probably my favorite part (the speeches by my maid of honor, the best man and the father of the groom were also amazing). The whole week leading up to our late June wedding was unseasonably cold and rainy, and we weren't sure our ceremony would happen outside as planned. But they were able to set-up on the lawn, and as the ceremony began the sun came out and it was just the most perfect setting for sharing our vows and being with our loved ones. The whole day was filled with more joy than I could have imagined!

LWD: Do you have any advice for brides going through the process of finding their wedding dress?

Norah: Know what is important to you. I knew I wanted something well-made that fit me nicely and wouldn't need a ton of alterations, and that would be comfortable! I think it's good to be open-minded because you might be surprised with what you end up with, but also it should be something that makes you feel like yourself. Don't feel pressure to find "the one" -- there are many beautiful gowns that will be perfect on your day, trust yourself to pick what makes you feel good!

LWD: Anything else you want to mention about your experience with LWD?

Norah: Living out of town put a little extra pressure on me to find my dress when I was in town, but LWD was communicative and flexible especially about timing. I had a great experience at LWD, from the selection to the actual space and the women who helped me.
